he Priory Park Boxing Club has been directed by Paul Gough for 30 years, and was founded in the early 70’s as a way of using boxing to provide support and encouragement to the wider community in the deprived area. Paul’s team works with young and old people of all abilities.
Its gym facilities are used by over 300 – 400 people each week and is an important hub for the community. It houses its own Priory Park Community School for vulnerable children, where Paul’s team also helps to tackle anti-social behaviour by working with the local police and local schools in the area.
Over the years, the boxing club has produced some quality fighters, including Schoolboy Champions, Golden Gloves Champions, Junior and Youth National Champions, as well as CYP Champions (Clubs for Young People). As a way of enhancing the gym’s offering, Paul reached out to us at Versaclimber UK and purchased a Top of the Range model.

“Our club offers the finest coaching for both seniors and juniors, and boxers regularly compete throughout the year at various events in the UK. We have regular shows and enter every national championship all year round. We use it as a big part of our Strength & Conditioning sessions and ladies bootcamp groups too.
“For me, to be able to give people the opportunity to train on one of the most effective fitness tools on the market is really rewarding. We have not only improved facilities for our current roster of boxers, but now we’re offering Functional Fitness to members of the local community. We’re not only a club, we’re a family.
“We’re in the process of looking for funding to build an extension to our gym, to enable more people to benefit from our services. The Versaclimber has been of interest to our current and new users too, motivating them to get fit and inspiring others to follow suit.”
